The Promise Ring

I know I haven’t updated in a while. A lot has happened honestly. I don’t wanna get into all that at the moment however. Right now, there is just one thing I wanna talk about and that’s about my boyfriend. His name is Richard (Ricky for short). He got me a promise ring which is something that I’ve always wanted.

Now there are two problems, one, I really wanted to go with him to pick it out. I wanted us to look at rings together and stuff. I even told him that before he even got me one. As soon as he said he was gonna get me one, I said I had wanted to go with him. And he said okay. But we didn’t get to do it together and I’m just really upset and disappointed over it.

Second, the ring he got, I don’t like at all. It’s too big so I can’t wear it and it’s not even in good condition…

I know it’s the thought that counts but… I dunno. I can’t even wear it and that’s upsetting to me. I mean, if he had given me one of his rings that I’d have to wear on a chain, that’s a different story but that isn’t the case.

So I’m just upset. I wasn’t expecting something expensive cause he can’t afford that but I was definitely expecting something nicer and at least in my size… I’m just disappointed. Plus, I had really wanted to look at jewellery with him and we didn’t get to. I wanted to know what he liked and what he was into. And he just… Took that away from me.

Now I don’t know if I should say something or what. I’m not good at this sort of thing. I’ve never had this sort of thing happen before so I’ve got no idea what to do about it.

  1. Wow, I hope after almost a month you can look back on yourself and realise how incredibly selfish and ungrateful this is. It’s a fucking ring, the fact that your boyfriend wanted to think about what to get you and surprise you with a ring rather than just waltz into a shop have you snap your fingers and say “that one” and him buy it for you, I think that means more than some damn ring. Instead of sitting sulking about it, take a long look in the mirror. Fucking disgusting.

As I said in the blog post, the ring didn’t have to be brand new or even something bought. And since I knew about it, it wasn’t really him surprising me with a ring. It was the fact that I wanted to do it together. Forgive me for being so selfish in wanting to do it together with him and spend time with him doing it. I didn’t realize that wanting to learn his taste in jewelry too was such a selfish and ungrateful thing.
