I started web designing in the spring of 2007. It all started with a website hosted by Quizilla called Crystallized-Layouts, which I ran for over a year. From there I moved to a subdomain known as Rain Fall, which I used for my active blog. This was my first blog and I ran it for three years. I ultimately closed the site completely in January of 2011. In June of 2009 I received this domain. It actually came free with the purchase of a master reseller account. I decided in the fall of that same year to move my blog over to this domain.
I kept up with my blog pretty actively for years and I was really quite proud of the effort and love I put into this website. This domain was really the start of all my website endevors. It was my inspiration and my go to for venting and my personal struggles that in all honesty, I didn’t feel like I could just talk to people about. I’ve always been open, but in a much more indirect way making it difficult for me to be open with people directly, even if asked. Blogging was a way for me to communicate my thoughts and feelings without having to say them outloud or to someone’s face – though I’d gladly show them the post. Sadly, to this day, I’m still the same way with some types of communication.
Moving on, I ran the blog for many years until I moved in with my at the time, boyfriend, Ricky, in 2015. Between having two young (infants actually) step sons, our relationship, the general move, dealing with my still homeless mother, some pretty serious health iproblems including several strokes and mental health issues that I was really struggling to get under control, some horrible drama from my mother-in-law, and then a constant battle with the social security administration to get my disability (which I ultimately did win), managing a blog just became too much for me to deal with. In November of 2016, I wrote my last blog post with no idea at the time, that it would be my final post.
In June of 2017, the domain expired and I had no idea. I had so much going on and so much on my plate that I just completely forgot and lost track of time. I ended up losing the domain, not just because it expired, but because someone else registered it. When I realized my mistake, I was completely heart broken. The domain that I had loved and charished so much and put so much effort and time into, now belonged to someone else.
I started monitoring the registration, expiration date, and redemption period for the domain in desperate hopes that I would be able to get it back. However, four years passed and each year, they renewed it. More then once, it went into the redemption period and at that time, I would monitor it more closely hoping that it wouldn’t be renewed, but much to my dismay, it would be.
It wasn’t till fall of 2020 did I finally manage to get it back! By chance too. I had been monitoring the domain, even after so many years had passed and saw that it had fallen into the redemption period once again and once again, it showed that it had been renewed. It gave me the notice again, that it had been renewed for another year. So I stopped checking it and a month passed. A close friend of mine and I were talking on facebook messenger. Just regular chit chatting. We got into talking about the websites we used to have, the ones we ran together, and how we’d love to open another website or two together again. Fun stuff!
On a whim, I decided to go to Namecheap and check on my domain. I had no doubt that nothing had changed, but I could hope. I mean, there was always that tiny, itty-bitty, slim chance that whoever had registered it would list it up for sale right? So I checked, with no hope in mind. I checked.
It was available!
The cry I let out when I saw that! You have no idea the tears that came to my eyes and how excited and happy I was in that moment! I was sure that it had to be a mistake, but it wasn’t one I was going to just ignore. I immediately added the domain to my cart and called my husband, Ricky, to verify that he was okay with the purchase. (It’s not that I needed permission, but the simple fact of we discuss every purchase, even for a coffee, before going through with it.) He said he was fine with it! Of course, I already had the card info put in so I pressed the check out key! I had it all done in what I swear was less than a minute!
Once registered, I immediately set to work on getting the site back up. I still had the site sitting on my server, so it was just a matter of changing the nameservers and then doing the most time consuming part – updating the website. After all, the main core of this site hadn’t been updated since it’s creation in 2009. It was time for an update. Between so many years of use and then four years dead, a lot had changed!
The website was reopened after a thorough update within just a few hours of it’s re-registration!

The site is run on the WordPress CMS while FanUpdate blogging script is used in the background to access old blogs. The very cute emoticons are from Rock Witch, Mochi Cafe, V1Pus and Strawberry Marmalade. A huge thank you also goes to CoreFTP, Notepad++, InterWorx, WordPress and cPanel Inc. Without those programs and scripts this site wouldn’t exist at all.
